Skip Size Guide

From small clear-outs to serious site work.

These capacities are practical guides, not a substitute for checking the waste and access. Dimensions can vary slightly by supplier.

Placement First

Where will the skip stand?

Placement affects permits, delivery access and the vehicle’s ability to collect safely. It needs checking before the booking is confirmed.

Private driveway

Usually no highway permit, but the surface, width, gates, parked vehicles and overhead clearance still matter.

Check driveway placement →

Commercial site

Vehicle routes, turning room, working areas and container space must remain clear throughout the hire.

Discuss site access →
Waste Rules

Load the right waste—and keep it level.

Waste type affects the container, transport weight and disposal route. Ask before adding anything unusual.

Waste must remain level with the top.

Overfilled, unsafe or contaminated skips may be refused at collection. Wasted-journey or reattendance charges can apply when the vehicle cannot complete the job.

Quick Answers

Before you request a skip.

How long is the normal hire period?
A typical hire period is agreed when the booking is confirmed. Longer periods can be discussed and may involve an additional rental charge.
Can a skip go on the road?
Usually, but a public-highway permit will normally be required. The postcode and intended position must be checked before booking.
Do I need to be present for delivery?
Not always if the placement and access are completely clear and the instructions have been accepted. Awkward sites are safest with somebody present.
Can I move the skip after delivery?
No. Moving it can make collection unsafe or impossible and can create surface-damage problems. Contact BLS before changing the position.
Do you show skip prices online?
No. The team checks the postcode, size, waste, placement and availability before confirming a quotation.
